Color me a Clowdie!!

Growing up I LOVED to color. My grandmother would sit with me for hours as we colored the afternoons away with not a worry in the world. Nothing was more exciting than a brand new box of crayons. All those beautiful colors lined up in rows waiting for me to create something beautiful. So many times through the years I thought back to those quiet times and  wished I could go back and just color my cares away.

Little did I know I was not the only one who felt that way and the world of coloring was CHANGING!!

Alcohol markers, water color pencils, beautiful images and groups of people popping up every where who LOVE TO COLOR!!!

I started my coloring journey with a set of Spectrum Noir markers, a few My Besties images and the hope that I would be able to create something that I could use to make cards.  I was HOOKED as soon as the marker hit the paper! For the most part I was happy with what I was coloring but I kept seeing images that others had colored that were AMAZING! Some how they were able to make a flat piece of paper look like the images were popping right off the page. I kept thinking I could never do that......those people are "REAL" ARTISTS. I have no art background and absolutely no understanding of art theories and then I stumbled upon Kit and Clowders facebook page run by Alyce Keegan.

Strange name for a group I thought but its always fun to see beautiful things that others have made. I didn't realize at first that a lot of the people in the group either have or are currently participating in Alyces classes and that all of them LOVE to color!! I lurked around the group for a while before I decided to take the free markers 101 class". I figured I would get out of a free class about what I paid for it and I was pretty skeptical that I could ever "learn" to color  .....but "what did I have to lose". BOY was I WRONG!!! I could not believe the amount of information that was in that class. Written step by step directions, printable practice sheets, video tutorials and more information than I knew what to do with!!  I LITERALLY can NOT say enough good about this class.....it is FABULOUS!!! Its more than just learning how to give your coloring dimension and all about teaching yourself to see the images in a whole new way. I have learned so much and  have been practicing what I learned in that first class and have since enrolled in Kit and Clowders Hair and Skin class.

Just like the Markers 101 class the Hair and Skin Class is PACKED with step by step written directions, video tutorials, practice print outs and everything you need to learn to color beautiful skin and hair. But that's not all you get!!! This part blows me AWAY......WAIT FOR IT.....as part of your class you also get one on one feed back which in my opinion is worth more than its weight in gold!! You color an image, upload it to an album and in no time at all Alyce reviews the image and lets you know what you are doing well and what you need to work on. She answers any questions you have and is a constant source of encouragement and knowledge.

Since starting the classes I have set a goal for myself, one that I never would have even hoped for before now. My goal is to apply and be accepted as a member of a coloring/creative design team. You'll be able to follow my progress here as I continue to practice, take classes at Kit and Clowder,  hone my skills and hopefully one day......... if I work hard enough......... see the beautiful projects I create as a design team member. A HUGE thank you to Alyce Keegan for creating these classes, her patience, support and helping to open new and exciting adventures for any who is willing to take the journey.
